I think a short quick shower, and I had to train myself to do that. My showers were never that long, but, the scrubbing can make the skin dry out. Water does soak the scabs off, but a soak in the tub might be better. The constant hot water on the body will often make matters worse.
hydrogen peroxide sprayed on will help after the shower, but a water based lotion should be used to keep the itching down. Benardryl will help with itchies.
Fungal soaps might help, or even rubbing salt like you would be in the ocean. But, wash off.
Sometimes fungal ointment will work to soothe, or antibiotic cream. Also, lately I have been using allergy cream, seems to dry the sores up,
Many use herbs in bath, and taking vitamins helps. Vitamin B, Potassium, slowing down carbohydrates, eating yogurt, cranberries or juice, rather than sodas, lower sugar content, etc.
Vitamin E oil, natural, some people use Cats Claw, other herbs.
In the treatment section on this board, you can find some answers.
Take care and hang in there.
More water will make you skin even more sensitive. So, if the showers can be shortened, that was the biggest thing I had to overcome, not that long, but, still too long. If shower in hot, follow with short bit of time in cold, this will help.

Hi Steve, Your wife is quite likely afraid that the more she does around the house, the more she is likely to infect her loved ones. I find it hard to clean with fibers coming out of my fingers. I now have to do dishes with rubber gloves on and cooking, well.... I have to admit, that chore has gone to my other.. Your wife likely feels like she is going to die because no one will believe her and therefore she can get no help. I feel like she does. The only one she has is her spouse, to provide her with his full belief in her suffering. You can help by trying to soother her madness with a good hug. Allow her to be sick, allow her to be afraid, very afraid. Be there for her, just as you would want her to be there for you. There will be days she can and will do more and there will be days she will do less. Above all, cherish the time you have with her because there is no cure or effective treatment for this. She needs you now more than ever. I hope this helps as it was not meant to lecture.

hi bob,
i would consult with dr. staninger, especially as your wife is in the beginning stages of this. the beginning is horrendous as it sets up throughout the body. this is the time to try to stop it.
dr. staninger knows what is happening to us she has a very soothing demeaner, as well.
I make it through this nightmare daily, because of Faith in our spiritual Father, (11 1/2 years now) and support of the morgellons' community.
many blessings to your house, ruth

hi bob, i have a friend that does the clonazepam also ...as she needs it.
i smoke marijuana regularly, it is stored in the fat and released
all thru the day. without it, my joints become too painful to walk
or sit easily. it keeps depression at bay as well as the nausea of
over production of mucous which benadryl intermittantly at night helps
to lessen the amount produced and helps me sleep. as my taste buds are about
nonexistent now, MJ keeps me eating. pharmaceuticals tend to produce high anxiety
in me, so i stay away from them. hope this helps to make a reasonable choice.

After doing further investigation through internet and with family dr. We have gone a different way and are on the road to recovery ,I am sorry to say that it is not this disease and is being handled properly now with medication . Symptons are almost all gone now . I was not satisfied in thinking that she had a disease that could not be treated. Please stay with your family dr. and discuss everything with them before you decide on having something that they can not diagnose.Investigate with a qualified dr. and it will be easier no matter on how they handle it.Best wishes to everyone and get help from a family dr. and not the internet.Sidelinebob out.

Sidelinebob, I'm glad your wife is receiving appropriate treatment. FYI, I personally am seeing my family practictioner with this..and I was diagnosed with Morgellon's Disease. He discovered this on his own and then said "Well, the bad news is there is no cure." At least he recognizes it and is aware of the CDC study which has now begun. This was announced by the CDC AFTER your initial post. tinyurl.com/26svzmwww.cdc.gov/unexplaineddermopathy/Again best of luck to you and her. Free_Spirit

You remain in my heart and mind as that man who truly loves his wife. Being there for her is the most important thing you could do.
Update on her condition?

Let me explain ,we continued going to dr. and I watched a show called Trouble in Mind ,hosted by Kate Jackson and called dellusional ,you can get it at library. My wife had exact same symptons as the guy they had on show. I was terrified and seemed to be watching my wife in that show. Let me explain also , nobody could see anything coming out of her ,just the sores that she was producing herself by treatments that were not prescribed by dr. .She was given zprexa, and within days she was better and still getting better . She is starting a new job next week ,something that she couldn't do before or even think of because she would not go outside or anywhere(sound familiar to anyone).I am not trying to bash anyone here , I felt I had to retract my posts because it didn't reflect anything to morg.I was trying to find out about this and did ,, that is why she is better now and our life is almost back to normal .If you want to stay sick ,stay on this website and take advice for cures that don't even make sense ,how can you be treated or diagnosed by phone or go to a dr. that will give you the answer you want . Stay with your dr. and tell them everything ,and if you have someone to help you the better ,have them as a partner and have them come with you to dr. like a buddy system .I know my wife wasnt crazy but there are underlying symptons ,depression ,dehydration ,etc. It is not a way to live ,getting help on internet and doing cures that will do more harm than good.I am returning to this site for this post only ,if it makes it and doesn't get deleted by admin .aka dr. .My advice to anyone here ,go back to your dr. and listen and tell them anything , they are there to help you ,. also check out morgellons watch ,interesting view of this.. Good luck .. and God bless ..

That's great news for your wife. But, since you really don't know what it is like to have Morgellons, and most of us do, you don't really have any idea what it is like, and we nearly ALL have been to Doctors, and still go to ones who are not sadistic.
Most of us DO have fibers, and other things coming from our skin. And there are many Doctors who treat this condition, and also have it themselves. Go to the CDC and read their web site. Go to Oklahoma State University's web site, they have a research team studying this condition. There are other scientists and Dr's; who just had a convention in Austin Texas about this same thing. And t has been on Night-line, Inside Edition, as well as many local news broadcasts.
Just because your wife may not have had it, doesn't mean that we should let you, a non sufferer, uneducated about this condition, tell us not to reach out and help each other, and share information from the Doctors & Scientists who ARE studying it.
There are some of us who monitor this board, and try to keep any harmful advice off of it. I do not believe in using chemicals for anything myself, that is of course unless it is a prescription from a Doctor for a patient who truly needs it.
If you will recall, that is exactly what I told YOU to DO. Take her to a Doctor..and ask about the medication you were asking US about for her nerves? And I told you that it would probably be a good idea by the sound of it from what YOU were saying. We only had what YOU told us to go by, and it was YOU asking US for advice. I re read all advice given you, and was happy to see it was all very sound, and was glad you DID go take her to a Doctor.
Good Luck, and good bye Side Line. I hope the best for you and your family, and am glad you are on your ways back to normal family life.

Good luck .. and God bless .. Against my better judgement I am going to respond to this post. Firstly, if you and your wife are in fact experiencing what you claim then good for you. I'm glad you found help for your wife. I could easily go on the defense and suspect you and judge you for coming in here to start trouble. But I don't know you or anything about you. Same holds true for you. You don't know me, anything about me or my life experience. Only what you've read on an online message board....which is not much. Please, do not make assumptions about me or anyone else with this condition until you've walked a mile in our shoes. Otherwise please save the judgemental tone. It is not only NOT helpful, but destructive. Thank you. Faith

I do not mean any harm here ,and the advice that was given me was to the best of your knowledge ,I have educated myself about this quite in depth, and couldn't find anything convincing and have discussed it with her dr. as well and he has the same conclusion. He is treating her for everything and still not eliminating some kind of skin condition ,she is still going for tests ,but the ziprexa is the one that helped ,.I am sorry if you don't like the answer I have given ,but it seems you are happier having this and not exploring other things with your dr. that is all I am trying to say and not being harmful, none of you had to give advice but you did ,out of your hearts and trying to help the best you could, the same way I am doing . I have read some other stories about people suffering here and it is scaring me on the way some are thinking . If you had a serious disease such as say cancer(in theory only,) would you ask for advice on how to treat it on forums ,i don't think so .This is why I say stay with your dr. Also those t.v. segments are for shock value and ratings ,, . I will not come in here anymore ,please take care ,it does get better if you look at it differently.Sorry if I offended anyone.
