Hi Folks - Alter Theory #xx1
Has anyone ever experienced a 'lightweight' or 'temporary' building ?
You know the ones, they have a steel frame with a fabric covering. They can be used as warehouses or even aircraft hangars. The reason I ask, is because the fabric covering on some of the 'heavier' designs is made from, and I quote - "a butyl rubber covered polyester membrane' - the rubber gives the sheet a UV stable waterproof covering to the incredibly tough polyester weave matting that you can literally jump up and down on and not go through. The sheets last for years.
Now the reason I know this, is because I used to build them for a living .....and the reason I'm raving on and mentioning it here in the 'alter theories' thread, is because of a remotely possible 'fungal' and 'poly- (whatever x man made x plastic)' link.
Upon entering one of these buildings, the first smell that I can usually detect is one of - you guessed it - Mushrooms !
Now when the buildings are not in use, they can be dismantled and stored away for their next occasion. If, as sometimes happens, the sheeting is rolled up left outside uncovered, rainwater will gain entry and can sit in 'pools' inside the sheeting. This habitat can lead to a remarkable 'brew' if left for any length of time.
Upon rolling out such a sheet that has been affected this way, the stench of fungus (still mushroomy) is now overwhelming. The rainwater 'pools' inside have now taken on the consistency and look of 'wallpaper paste' and there are typically black patches of 'mould?' around what was the 'rim'
Now if any enterprising mould (Mycoplasma?) fancied splicing its DNA with any 'man made plastic', then I could'nt think of a better opportunity than this.
Oh ...and this is purely coincidental of course, but however,
- I have had 'Morgellons' as in the lesions/coloured fibres, since starting work with this material in 1994 - (and have had many other bizarre reactions since as well)

...but however again, I seemed to be the only one. No-one else was seemingly affected in the 10 years that I was around this stuff.
So - genetically pre-disposed ? - immunocompromised ?
I can certainly work these arguments into the equation if need be and have done so several times over in my 'minds eye'. ie I was also the first or only one on the team to get thrush (esp in the crutch area) and herpes zoster (cold sores on lips) nearly every time I went on a job - the good old Canesten cream was never far away !
As I say - I was just thinking outloud ....thoughts ?
