Hi members, I am new here, and desperate to talk to others with scalp Morgellons. Does anyone have VERY painful tacking, which feels like someone is pulling your hair as hard as they can? I have such strange symptoms, that it’s hard to describe, but I’ll do my best. When my hair is moist, I have “ gooey globs”at the base of my hair shaft. I also have strands of filaments that tack very painfully to my scalp, all over my head. At times areas of my hair will bend in half with the “gooey” substance at the halfway point, causing this. I also have filaments, that “feel” under my hair follicles, that are evenly, proportioned, square areas about 1/4” by 1”, that I can pick up with my fingernail,it will make a group of hair cluster together tightly. These are all over my scalp, evenly. I can get even more detailed, as I was a prior, RN, and the scientist in me has worked and worked to figure out why it’s doing this. I now understand the how, but not the why. This has been SO distressing that I shaved my head. This has happened three times in the past 14 years, each time shaving my head. The last time was 1 3/4 yrs. It is only until now, that I figured out the how, and then I found THIS possible reason!! I am VERY desperate to talk to someone else going through the same thing. My scalp will inflame with the slightest touch, and be painful, but not bc of inflammation, bc of the tacking. Nor does my “scalp” bleed. I do not have open sores. What looks like my scalp in color. it’s not really my scalp. I can feel the difference. The top and back are mostly affected. If I mess with my hair in general, or a painful area, it will only make it worse, with more and more of these always even sized filaments tacking to the scalp. Shaving the last two times seemed to make a difference, however, this time it has not. I have an area that I have rubbed, that “looks like” a bald area of my scalp, but there is white hair growing there. I am 66 and have salt and pepper hair. There are also times when my hair is moist, that I can “unroll” a gooey glob, which feels like hair, but it will recoil again. The painful parts, are these 1 inch even length, filaments that tack as I said. I have no itching, nor hair loss. I know I’ve gotten pretty detailed. I hope that someone out there can relate to me. I’m currently being treated by an online Dr (could not get into my PCP for a referral until 1/31/2023) for a fungus, after a lengthy conversation. She is treating me with oral Griseofulvin, and Ketoconazole shampoo every 3rd day, which has made a very small difference. In between those shampoos, I have used a 50:50 water/ACV rinse. Also tea tree oil. TYSM, Nanc 😘
