hey all, I haven't posted on here too much but after months & months of treating myself, I decided that I would write something about what has worked best for me. .first, I'll tell you a little bit about my history with morgellons...
I am now 33, almost 34. I didn't even know I had morgellons up until about a year ago. I have had multiple surgeries starting at the age of 6 & I have been in & out of doctor's offices, the emergency room & hospitals my whole life...after I gave birth to my daughter 5 yrs ago, I had a pulmonary embolism, shortly after which caused my lung to collapse. I now have an ivc & constant breathing issues...so when I say I've been in the poop...i've been in it.
anyway, I've had allergies my whole life but they got really crazy about a year & a half ago coupled with my anxiety/panic disorder going haywire...i started to search for answers when I realized that my hair was not only stuck to my ears & neck, but it was in fact growing *backwards*, deep underneath layers of skin & debris that I had no idea needed to be sloughed off. I've always been very into water, swimming, taking baths & showers, so to say that I live in the tub is an understatement...so that I was so creepily covered in uck really drove me nuts...i also have ocd & don't hand wash too much, but that turned me into one when the itchiness would not abate.
..so I kept reading online about different skin conditions but nothing, absolutely no combination of words dug up my situation. I couldn't believe that there wasn't someone, somewhere, on the internet that had the same thing happen to them...months of research later I got a little more info on the morgellons stuff, but still nothing specific! I kept finding stuff on people *losing* their hair, but nothing about anyone's hair growing under their skin.
I don't know how, but late one night, I did finally find a very old board post about someone with a situation almost exactly like mine...it gave me relief...but also put more questions into my head...i researched everything I could fins through google, etc about morg's but the hair loss thing just kept coming up...
This all led me to the conclusion that people who think they are "losing" their hair that have morgellons-I am not talking about male pattern baldness, remember that-are not in fact losing their hair, but it is hidden underneath layers of skin & dirt, just like mine is.
I believe that I could have one of the worst cases of morgellon's..my chitin layer was extreme..it has taken me a full year of supplements & special baths to chip away at it & actually get stuff to make a real difference..i also believe that I've had morgellons my whole life, 32 years of not treating it, which is why if someone gets morgellon's until later in life & depending on many other factors, they wouldn't experience symptoms that are as extreme as mine...which is why most probably never try to get through that 'bald' layer & just think they're losing their hair?? This is all speculation of course & I'm not a doctor so please don't take this as medical advice or anything...I'm just trying to solve this mystery like everyone else is...
Oh & i came to this conclusion also based on a few years ago when my hair was long & i started feeling bumps on my head & picking away at them...evetually my hair started peeling away, like it was stuck, leaving me what i thought to be bald underneath!! But then i shaved my head a few times & started my baths & akin started coming off & revealing hair under it..
So, now to the part that is hopefully more interesting, my treatment methods. I already was very into essential oils/ayurvedic healing & herbology before i started all of this, so it has actually been really rewarding in a strange way to research & experience all of this...okay, I'm just going to do a list with my results for each...
.neem oil: i think this is the #1 killer of morg's when it comes to an external treatment..it stinks like crazy & will itch like crazy but remember that an oil that makes you itch in the bath is actually a good thing because that means it's breaking through your chitin layer & pushing out crappies through your skin..if it becomes intolerably itchy, just wash it off, even a few minutes will make a difference! Always buy neem oil online, a lb of it is $7.oo vs $12.oo for an ounce in herbal stores!
.tea tree oil: this stuff too is amazing & a little bit goes a very long way. It calms down itchies very well & it's so good in your shampoo, conditioner, laundry, air spray, almost anything you can wash, add tea tree oil & you will get antiseptic, anti-itch & anti-fungal & properties...plus the smell is divine, i want to live in a land that smells like tea tree oil
.bentonite clay: it makes me itch very badly when i put it in the tub, but again that means it's working...you can eat bento to cleanse from the inside out, you can make skin/hair clay masks (i like to mix it with any random mud mask you can get for better consistency), you can brush it dry through your hair...again, many uses, plus it's very cheap online & in stores.
.charcoal: I've been taking charcoal internally for a while now but it didn't dawn on me until a few nights ago that i should put it in the tub, too...ta da! I think it's the best thing I've found so far that really calms my skin down for an extended amount of time...even my special black soap doesn't do the job as well as pure charcoal. I don't think I'd recommend art charcoal or brickets, hehe, get the stuff that's made to take as a supplement & crack a few open in the tub.
.grapefruit seed/grapefruit essential oil: don't buy stuff online too often so I've only found grapefruit essential oil at the store but it works very well, too...was one of the first things that really got my hair to loosen up significantly..i put it in everything now along with neem & tea tree oil.
.mamey seed oil: this is another recent discovery & my hair loves it! I got a huge bottle, 3.5 oz, for less than $8.oo which is a huge bargain compared to the prices for other oils..the drawback is that it smells icky to me, like soap but in a bad way...i can't even describe it, but I don't like it so I mix it with other things like grapefruit which covers it up pretty well....oh & it's a bright red color which doesn't stain anything but it leaves your tub looking like you bathed in fake blood...
I think that's it...i've tried almost everything that's been recommended on boards-salt, alcohol, witch hazel, spearmint, etc....but I think that drying yourself out isn't really the way to go, although it feels natural to want to do that...but I think you have to bombard yourself with oils & stuff that really hydrates so you can scrape it all off easier...oh I also use urea cream, which my mom gave me that was a prescription...that stuff has helped a lot too, but I've made the most progress by taking bath after bath with certain oils put into it...i also believe that charcoal, neem oil & grapefruit/seed oil is the holy trinity when it comes to calming down morgellons, if not eliminating it entirely in synch with certain diet & lifestyle changes.
I also do things like take lots of supplements & enzymes, but this post is long enough as it is so maybe I'll write a different one about those...but you can easily find the info on that yourself, I'm not doing anything different than the highly recommended stuff...but I will say that you cannot dramatically reduce your symptoms by doing one or the other-you have to do both to have a real change to your quality of life, in my opinion.
..well, again, I'm not a doctor but I hope this information might help some out you out there
