Thank you for updating us about the sun, I have been concerned for a few yrs. The sun did a longer sleep and was so quiet last year for the new cycle. The solar flares have caused lots of damage the average person has no knowledge of. SOHO has been a very revealing diagnostic tool. I am not suprised that the plates are brittle, this is real feature I didnt think of. Thanks Sarah for being on top of this.
Morgie is giving us another tsunami, from our researcher Cliff, I'm barely hanging on with the "new" info. The ramifications of the growth message, is mind boggleing. We are seriously morphed.

From time to time the Sun lets off violent explosions, such as solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). Both involve huge amounts of energy and can send streams of particle heading out into the Solar System. If Earth, or a spacecraft, happens to get in the way, the effects can be pronounced. Damage can be done to the electronics aboard spacecraft, and on Earth the effects can range from disruption to radio communications, to the wonderful formation of the beautiful Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australis (Northern and Southern Lights.) The Sun has an extremely strong magnetic field that reaches far beyond Pluto. The Sun, largely made of plasma, creates its own magnetic field. Its rotation causes the field to become twisted and distorted. This leads to phenomena like sunspots and prominences. It has been known for a long time that sunspot numbers rise and fall in an 11 year cycle that has a definite minimum and maximum. During the period of each sunspot cycle, the Sun's magnetic field completely reverses, so after 22 years the magnetic field returns to its original orientation. The human eye is too sensitive to be used for studying the Sun directly, Telescopes and film or electronic detectors can be used, but ground-based facilities have the disadvantage of having to endure the vagaries of the weather, not to mention the episodes of darkness we call night time. But observatories positioned in space can be set to watch the Sun essentially uninterrupted for years at a time. And indeed, a whole flotilla of scientific spacecraft is doing just that. Perhaps the most famous and successful of these is the joint European-USA craft known as SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory). Launched in 1995, it was intended to operate for only a few years. However, it has proved far more resilient than its makers had hoped for, and is still going strong in 2007. From its vantage point 1 million miles (1.5 million km) sunward of Earth, where the Sun and Earth's gravity balance out, it has kept its electronic eyes trained on the solar disk almost continuously during this time. Other spacecraft include the unique Ulysses probe, which was put on a trajectory that has taken it out of the plane of the ecliptic and into an orbit that takes it over the poles of the Sun. And launched in 2006 was Stereo, twin spacecraft that circle the Sun inside and outside Earth's orbit, providing views which when combined, will give a unique stereo perspective on the Sun's activity. |

Thank you for renewing my belief that though we dont understand all the happenings, this by far the most exciting era to be living in. I get in trouble emotionaly when my mind cant be childlike, and ready for what ever God allows to happen in my life.
I always read India Daily before I was so seriously ill, it was so refreshing to re-establish my link to the great scientific group. Your evals. of the sun was wonderful, thanks for your out pouring of your joyous knowledge.
Morgie is stealth, quark levels. I could really take in, proteins in the Ribosom continously changing. I can see why the half formed entidys, that are released on a daily basis. The carbon forms that dont have digestive systems. The super intelligence of extraterristrial, multidemensional , integrated consciousness. German physicist Erwin Schrodinger devised a famous thought experiment. Imagine a cat in a sealed box that contains a vial of poison gas linked to a radioactive atom, which might or might not decay. If the atom decays a 50-50 chance a mechanism will release the gas and kill the cat. According to quantum theory, without an observer to confirm its status, it has both decayed and not decayed. So until someone opens the box and looks, the cat is both dead and not dead. But animal rights activists need not be concerned. The thought experimental has never been performed.
CORRELATION
French physicist Alain Aspect performed a curious experiment in 1982. His apparatus, simultaneously emitted two photons of polarized light, in opposite directions from the same source. According to quantum theory, such polarization only exists once it has been observed - that is, the observation itself "decides" the nature of the other one, too - although at the point of measurement the pair were too far apart for any signal to travel between them, even at light speed. The photons were inextricably entangled - at the quantum level.

Since those early days, many dozens of Earth observation satellites have been placed into orbit, and used to monitor everything from weather and climate, to ocean currents, atmospheric changes and man-made pollution, land-use patterns, verification of international treaties, and more. These eyes in the sky have become essential not only for the modern way of life, but also for understanding and managing the changes that are taking place on our planet, many of which are a direct result of mankind's own activities. THE MOON ILLUSION
The full Moon is an amazing sight. Over the years it has inspired songwriters and poets, painters, and priests. The Moon is full when it is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun. This being so, it rises in the east around the time that the Sun sets in the West, forming a magnificent spectacle in the eastern sky. And it is around this time that a curious illusion takes place - to many people's eyes, the Moon appears much bigger near the horizon than it does when it is high overhead.
During the years there have been many explanations given for this apparent size increase, but the truth is rather prosaic - it's just an illusion. When the Moon is near the horizon the eye has other things to contrast it with, such as trees, buildings, and so on. But when it is high in the sky there is nothing to compare it with, and it seems smaller. It's easy to test this. Grab a coin or some other small object and, holding it at arms length, place it next to the Moon when it is near the horizon to gauge the Moon's size. Then do it again later when the Moon is high overhead. You'll find you won't be able to see the difference.
