My grandmother has this disease and I would like to see if I can help her. I've read a lot about differen't thinking about this disease, but being a pharmacist, I'm curious what medications each of you was on before the symptoms began. I wonder if Morgellans isn't linked to a long term side effect of some medication. Therefore I would like to ask for each of you with Morgellons to list the medications you were on when symptoms started to show up and also what medications you are on currently. I will look through the lists that people post and see if I can make any sense of it.
Thank you very much. Hopefully I can be of help to the community.

Nick - This is an EXCELLENT question that seldom gets asked. I have long felt that the medications I was on prior to my outbreak played a part in the disease process. In particular was a powerful medication for MS - Betaseron. I had been self-injecting this every other day for 3 months when I became very ill with SOMETHING. It may have been a stage of Morgellons. In any event I developed blatant Morgellons symtoms a couple of months after I stopped the injections. I was on other meds for MS as well - Provigil and Concerta - as well as Cymbalta for depression. I don't think it is a DIRECT side effect of these meds (except maybe the Betaseron, being an immunosuppressive). I think it is more the cumulative effects of toxins (rx meds) in the body. Most prescription medication is synthesized from petroleum, correct? Petrochemicals is one of the most potent precipitants for Morgellons. If you read Dr. Staninger's work, she has found that Morgellons "makes" various types of plastics in the body, and plastics are also derived from petroleum. I take practically no synthetic medications at all any more, and my symptoms have greatly improved (did lots of other things, too to get here). Please don't be offended by my calling prescription meds "toxins" - my brother-in-law is a pharmacist... It is wonderful that you are helping your grandmother, that you believe in her and support her. So many of us don't get that, and many end up committing suicide as a result of the combination of Morgellons and the abandonment. Thank you, sunnydaze

Good point.I wish some concerned group/entity could take a survey on this and maybe come up with a few medication-related usage common denominators.I would volunteer that I have been a long-term history of asthma related inhalers.I've been on these for 25 years. So many people have needed these for so many years now.I wonder if this would possibly be high on the list of common med usage.

I agree, an excellent question. I have actually been composing a survey to post, eventually, that includes previous meds, diseases etc.., I want it to be as in depth as possible so it is taking some time...promise to get to you all at some point. my meds were accutane, flexeril, anaprox, depo-provera, also the asthma inhalers ..well, this is a tough one considering i don't feel that i can truly pinpoint when i acquired morg, tho i estimate approx 15 yrs ago. i will have to think on this and get back to you... thanks for your work Nick
