Dear Members,
The forum revamp is continuing behind the scenes. When it is sufficiently complete, it will all be "turned on" and everyone will be able to view it. (Additional "fluffy" things will be done after that, and then it will be considered finished.)
In the meantime, a few of the concepts to be included in the new format can be discussed now.
New Forum Concept
Please keep in mind that this is conceptual and the revamp may not exactly match what is described here, since it is still under construction.
The Morgellons Group will have two major sections: (1) The Library, and (2) The Discussion Room.
The Library
The Library will have no discussion in it. Think of it as books that we remove and read, but no one writes in the books or talks in The Library.
The purpose is to provide an area for the press, media, politicians, celebrities, researchers, medical staff, new Morgs visitors, etc. to learn exactly what our perception of Morgs is. It will cover all the bases, up through our current knowledge.
Answers to questions like: What is Morgs, Where does it come from, What does it do?, etc. will be in The Library. Visitors will be able to come and learn what we know without being bogged down with our discussion details.
Plus, new Morgs members will be able to get "up-to-speed" before joining the discussion so that they don't have to sift through all that we've discussed here. As our boards grow, it becomes more difficult to weed through everything to get "the facts, just the facts, ma'am."
Once this area is set up, we can start a letter-writing campaign to anyone we want and proudly provide them with one link to come and get all the info.
It is very difficult to impart all of the important info in one letter that is short enough to keep someone's attention. The Library is vital to getting the information out to those people and it's critical because they likely are the ones who can help us the most.
Open Letters To ... is a section included in The Library.
Whether you mail a letter to someone or not, you can post your communication to any visitor here, whether it is to a specific person (like Oprah or Senator Boxer) or a group (like all doctors).
And a parallel discussion board will be set up for all of our discussion about that letter or that person/group. The folks to whom the "open letters" are addressed will be furnished with a link to that discussion.
This section serves multiple purposes, including one really important one. The search engine robots and crawlers will automatically find these letters and log every word.
"Important people" have staff that constantly comb the web looking for what's being said about (or to) that specific person. So, even if we don't send the person a letter in any other fashion, that person will discover our forum and the reason their name is being mentioned. This is an excellent way of "advertising" and drawing these folks to the site.
Personal Stories will also be a section in The Library. It's currently set up in our discussion area, along with its parallel Personal Stories Discussion board. When The Library is opened, our Personal Stories board will be moved there, and the personal stories discussion board will remain where it is.
Our important visitors need to know the "human" side of this illness, so I heartily encourage you to be working on a composition for this area, if you'd like to share your story. (This is not the place for rants - that goes in the discussion area. LOL)
Thank you to those who have already added their Personal Stories. The Modify button will probably no longer be available once this board is moved into The Library.
So, if you want to change or add anything, knowing now who will likely be viewing them, you can still modify your post.
Once Personal Stories is moved into The Library, the best way to post your story is to write a draft on your hard drive. When you've written exactly what you want to say, then post it, because you probably can't modify it once it's posted in The Library.
Morgs Group members are absolutely incredible. You've already contributed so much excellent insight into both the personal side and related to what you'd like to tell the authorities. You inspired me to set up the forum like this so that we can really make an impact.
None of this will work without the kind of thinkers and writers like we have here. Maybe you didn't know how important you are? Well, you ARE!!!
And you're not just important to the forum, you have the weight of all Morgs sufferers around the world resting on your keyboard. Just think about it for a minute! What we do and say rings out around the world and can help every last afflicted victim by perpetually pushing this subject into the spotlight, never giving up or even slowing down.
A huge thanks to all members for being here and for your contributions to our wonderful community!! And a very special thanks to SickandTired for inspiring me to write this and let everyone know what's going on!!
Tips: You may want to copy and paste some of your discussion posts to your hard drive to use as part of a letter to someone or part of your formal personal story. So much valuable info has already been shared, that it may just be a matter of reorganizing and editing what you've already written!
To view all of your posts, you may either: (1) click on your name in any post you made, or (2) click on "Members" - either way you will go to your member profile.
At the bottom of your profile page, there's a spot where the PC will list as many of your posts as you wish, and then click from there to get to a specific post. And you can choose how many posts you want to view.
