Hello,
After about ten years of putting up with bites from what I thought were fleas and the creepy-crawly sensation under my skin (we live deep in the boonies - in the hub if the middle of nowhere), I decided to use Vaseline to make visible what was biting me. I reasoned whatever it was must need air, so . . . . I wiped off some incredibly aggressive biting black 'dots', some longer black lines that also bite terribly, and some fuzzy-wuzzies that, when touched, spewed more black dots. During the two-week wipeoff period, I noticed or felt grainy sand-like particles that would sometimes bite too.
Tired of this seemingly endless task, I went to our doctor with my wife who was complaining of being bitten too. He perfunctorily diagnosed it as 'scabies' even though we never saw any presence of anything that looked like a mite. Being out in the boonies with our perennial mice problem, we though - aha - 'house mouse mites' and thought a scabies treatment might kill them off too. So we cleaned everything, and bought the prescription.
We have just completed a 'scabies' treatment using Kwellada-P (despite our protestations to our doctor that we had no rashes, nor did we see any mites). The treatment relieved some of the symptoms - the itching, the cracks between toes with black dots or sometimes lines emerging (they were both incredibly aggressive -- biting with a vengeance).
We went back to Vaseline after two days since we could feel bites again.
Hoefully, we don't have this awesome new disease with no cure - Morgellons Disease, but the symptoms sure match what we have been experiencing. Just this morning she had a filament come out of her hand, and I put it under the microscope. It sure looks like what the site shows, and matches what I had come out of a red pimple on my foot. I'm worried about what I can do for my wife since, medically, she cannot take anything that will interfere withher anti-seizure medication.
My wife contracted viral encephalitis (from the herpes simplex Type I - the cold sore virus) sixteen years ago, nearly dying many times in her three month hospitalization. She came out of a month-long coma and had to learn how to walk, talk, eat, toilet herself. I have been her 24 hour caregiver since her release. She has had about 20,000+ seizures since, and has total amnesia.
I have thought of using a natural pesticide to attempt to kill this little bugs - Pyrethrum extract from Chrysanthemum - Schultz's Houseplant and Garden Insect spray. It might cut down on whatever might be the source around our bed, etc. I thought it might work since bugs are naturally flushed, repelled, and die when they contact it.
Oh . . . I'm a little confused by all the massive amounts of info to digest. I don't trust our doctor . . and I'm just so tired all the time, but I have to do the caregiving and the figuring out what I should do. Thank heavens for Jesus - He sure will help us through this. . . Sorry for the rambling.
Any ideas? Am I being over anxious - and maybe they are mites after all?
Help?
Regards and Tia,
BooniesBoy (and sleeping wife)
