For those of you who are too busy to follow up on some of the links, I will post this letter from the 'close to DC doctor' who is treating Morgellon patients.
Yes, Sick and Tired, he states in his
letter to doctors that they need to make certain all adequate testing is completed before they attach a DOP diagnois or they are liable. We may wish to followup in a class action suit. I highly recommend we do, not only for justice for ourselves, but to protect our fellow sufferers who have yet to become ill and will also be treated as either delusional or stupid or both. Here's his letter. I underlined his warning to doctors below:
James Matthews, M.D.
Morgellon's Alert
Because of a quiet emergency that has been developing these past few years, this website has been temporarily modified to accomodate questions about Morgellons disease. In the near future, a new website,
www.Morgellons.US will be up and running with more detailed information.
I know that many people have suffered greatly with Morgellons Symptoms, and worse, disbelief and disrespect from their friends and even their doctors. This is going to start to change now.
While Morgellons is still currently a medical mystery, at this time we do know enough to start to move most patients toward health and healing.
It is well known that Lyme and associated diseases weaken the immune system1, and that most patients with Morgellons have lyme disease.2
Therefore, I'm recommending that Lyme and associated diseases, especially Babesiosis and Bartonella be directly targeted.
Patients:
Go to:
www.lymediseaseassociation.org/referral/ Fill in your name and location and you will be given the contact information for the doctor nearest you.
Alternatively, if Gaithersburg, Maryland is not too far, you may come and see me.
Contact me at: (301) 216-2065, or JasMatthews@msn.com
Doctors:
Go to:
www.ilads.org/burrascano_0905.htm for comprehensive guidelines for Lyme and Other Tick Borne Illnesses.
or,
www.guideline.gov/summary/summary.aspx?doc_id=4836&nbr=3481 for older National Guidelines.
NB: If you are not familiar with the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme and associated diseases or are unable to follow the above guidelines, then you must refer to someone who is. You may go to
www.lymediseaseassociation.org/referral/ to find the nearest Lyme Specialist.
Labeling of patients with Delusions of Parasites who have not been evaluated by a Lyme Literate Doctor may be considered malpractice, for which you may be held liable. Please keep a few other important points in mind:
- Lyme disease affects the nervous system directly and indirectly through the production of neurotoxins. Many patients have had fatigue and poor sleep for years before presenting, and because of strange opportunistic skin infections, it is very easy to mistakenly diagnose them with delusions of parasites.
- Most labs have inadequate testing for Lyme. Further, there is no known adequate testing for the Piroplasmosis variants, and at least 13 are known to exist. The best facility that I know of for Lyme testing is:
www.igenex.com. On the other hand, CD-57 counts must be performed at Labcorp.
- Chronic Lyme sufferers are some of our neediest patients and deserve our finest care, let's not fail them.
