This may not explain the "HOW" with my Morgellon's but maybe could possibly explain the "WHY"in relation to a weakened immune system. A number of years ago I was given a R.I.U. which is short for Radioactive Iondine Uptake for hyperthyroidism. They give you this little nuclear pill and you swallow it and allegedly it only goes into your thyroid gland due to the "iodine" and destroys it and then you take synthroid the rest of your life. Since that time I've been waiting for unusual side effects of this treatment.......after the treatment I was diagnosed with mild Grave's Disease by my opthamologist....which is an autoimmune disease. Could explain why I have this Morgellon's and my husband and child do not. I remember reading someones post who questioned...."Is there anything that make us Morgellon sufferers special?" Weakened immune system perhaps....Whatdaya think? ~Radioactive bugsy~

If anything this disease weakens your immune system.....
We are both from healthy bloodlines....and longjevity we both had that to look forward to......but this disease has changed all that and now we are grateful for each new day....so I would say that this disease tears down your immune system.....even in the healthiest of people....
One really easy way to detect Morgellons is to look in the toilet and see if there are fibers floating in your output.....they are easy to spot floating...look like little hairs.....I have more than enough in mine that's for sure....

There can be several things that break down your immune system. Surgery and too many antibiotics are both things that can break your immune system down. Once the door to your body is opened up, they clearly communicate the "free room and board" to their buddies out there.
In the past two years, I had 3 different doctors give me over 20 antibiotics in that period. Antibiotics kill good organisms; not just the bad guys. That is why you have to take the probotics (to put them back in your digestive track).
I believe trauma, high stress, and many other things don't help.
PS: there have been many posts suggesting that most Morgellons victims are male, but I believe that is because we have longer hair to attach to, do lots of gardening (chemicals in the dirt), etc. Plus alot of guys are too macho to complain!

I often wonder if it is not to do with the fact that the female carries the marker for a certain DNA trait and brings it to the childl, certainly there are men with this, but many more females as you pointed out.
