okay I have a question-Is it better to leave these suckers alone or to "Investigate" what is going on in there?
I have always been a picker, guess my daughter inherited the gene, as she's always digging for gold, and I find it unimaginably difficult to keep my hands off! What is the right procedure here? Am I going to have to buy myself a straightjacket...A little help please

You know that is tough.....for I know just how difficult it is to keep fingers off something that feels like your tissues are being attacked......and I do get relief after getting the culprit out.....BUT then here comes another one.....a endless battle it seems.....
or I manage to heal several by some miracle but then here comes three more to replace the two I healed....you know......
I have heard several times about salts baths helping.....I was never one to use the bath always showered but have recently found the bath with salts and bubbles to be quite theraputic as the lesions get to soak better.....and you can add all sorts of goodies to a theraputic bath.....
I don't know many with Morgellons that don't pick now and then you can't help it really.....it is an unconsious reaction to something hurting under your skin.....
I do recommend washing your hands much much more as these granules can get under those fingernails...as you know most of us have become cleaning machines around the house...
And funny you should mention oxyiclean.....there is that OXYGEN again....there was a thread the other day about oxygen healing the lesions faster (hydrogen peroxide) and Debbie mentioned in another thread info regarding OXYGEN
Quote from Debbie
I have continued drinking "Cell Food" in water and cleaning with borax/water solutions, salt/peppermint baths. The common factor in Cell Food and Borax/water is oxygen. Could this be something? 20 Mule Team® Borax is made of 100% Borax, a naturally occurring mineral composed of sodium, boron, oxygen and water. CELLFOOD is a proprietary ionic fomula containing dissolved oxygen, electrolytes, 78 ionic minerals, 34 enzymes and 17 amino acids— which provides an unsurpassed oxygenating source, and nutritional delivery system, to every cell of the body.
I guess the only thing we have going for us is to keep things clean......I don't know one of us that hasn't discussed our clean house issues.....

"to pick or not to pick" - great thread!
I really think that would have to be one of the hardest questions.
Without a doubt picking the skin is not a good thing. You wouldn't pick your liver or kidneys would you? No. but then we can't reach them! thank goodness, I think if we could reach our internal organs I think we would treat them the same as we have our skin?? Especially if they hurt just like our skin.
Our skin is a mass of living cells, cells with memory, just like every single part of the human body.
When I had bad lumps, bumps, itches and lesions I TRIED absolutely every method I could to control the picking, I could not though. The only thing that changed MY picking obsession was coming off pysch meds. Makes sense to me because the picking/skin obsession all kicked into place big time once I started on psych. meds. Could well be a coincidence, I just don't know.
Everyone has to deal with this demon of skin picking in their own way. It is so awful because the 'skin' hurts so so much and the relief comes from expressing, or whatever you need to do to relieve the torture.
For me I believe 100% this infection which reaches the skin and produces the fuzz fibers and grit is directly from every single lymph gland/node in the human body. Definitely an inside out illness first, and THEN the open lesions bring in further infection. One big mess takes place. Not a nice journey, a real nightmare to be honest.
I think anyone suffering the skin picking obession, needs ALL the support in the world. It is not purely in the "mind" (imagination) - the "body" in it's entirity is unwell.
If society continues to separate the "body" from the "mind" medicine and science will continue to keep going nowhere. Mind/body are ONE.

Isn't that the truth......Mind/Body ARE ONE......and a very intricate machine.... the skin.....your largest organ tells BIG TALES about your health.......for these lesions represent our inner health.....looks like I'm in a world of hurt..... That poor man in the debunking DOP slide presentation by Elizabeth Rasmussen Ph.D. his back covered in lesions both open and closed in places where he could not even reach.....he had been diagnosed three times with DOP......... What are these Dematologists taught anyway.....NOTHING it appears..... I did one half hour of research on the skin and feel more educated than they are......how they can look at this man's lesions all over his back and say he is delusional.......WHO IS THE DELUSIONAL ONE......I would have to say the doctor....not the patient..... TO ALL THE DEMATOLOGISTS The skin is a WINDOW to the inner health.......and IF YOU TOOK THE TIME to listen to your patients you would find that the lesions are just ONE of the MANY MANY SYMPTOMS and if you took the proper time to listen.......WE ARE VERY SICK for the lesions are just the tip of the iceburg..... Once the TRUTH is out........this is going to change the face of the medical community for you are included in the very reason this disease is the SILENT EPIDEMIC....... I have read some of these Dermatologists spouting how they see at least 50-100 patients all with the same complaints.........and yet NO LIGHT BULB has gone on in your head........WHY? were you NOT calling the CDC when more and more patients were coming in with the same symptoms and lesions over and over again.......what's wrong with you? ........and then to sit there and give these patients phycotic medications.......YOU are the ones needing the phycotic meds.....not the patient....WHAT world do you live in......it doesn't take rocket science to see these patients were truely infected with something and sick...... WAKE UP DEMATOLOGISTS........time to waken from your 30 year coma..... THIS IS WAY BEYOUND A DEMATOLOGISTS EXPERTISE so why did you even try to pretend you knew better.....you didn't and so this has spread and spread for years and you are part of the problem..... Oh Yeah!!! You GO SickandTired, I love it when you get all wordy!!!!!!
On a more serious note, I have to agree with you about that poor man with the lesions all over his back, and he was diagnosed as DOP.
I would love 5 minutes alone in a room full of Dermatologists, watch the poop fly then!! HA!!
