HI!
I am new to this board....I'm glad to see that recently the CDC seems to have been beginning to bring some scientific credibility to this ailment. I thought and researched a lot about this since the first knowledge of it appeared on Rense.com but biology and medicine are not my primary technical interests. I researched this based on material found on the world wide web; I generally tend to believe what people say they have experienced, but find their theories about what they have experience are not particularly useful.
Theory...Theory...Theory...Theory...Theory...Theory...Theory.....

My systemic studies seem to indicate that Morgellons is actually similar to an immune response in many organisms! That is, that the Morgellons response is actually a prototype or historical vestigial system from which the modern immune system has evolved. The body has retained this response to function when biological material comes into residence in the interstitial region between the skin and the internal areas of the body. Inside of the body we fight disease via white blood cells using the immune response and lymphatic system but these do not function efficiently in the area just below the skin. The body uses the morgellons response to remove stores of foreign active biological material by sequestering or packaging them in a tough form that will avoid further immunological response, then moves them out of the body using standard means of internal cellular locomotion.
The threads of morgellons are a packages generated inside the body and made to contain various simple chemical species which gives the threads their particular color. Their external makeup form is that of cellulose of plants which apparently avoids further immune response. The body is no particular hurry to remove these materials, but it also doesn't want them lying around as supply caches for nonstandard diseases either.
The Morgellons Disease happens when this standard biological response is overloaded and overwhelmed and cannot clear individual threads in a reasonable time. Individual threads start to become bundles which are less flexible and begin damaging the skin on exit. This leads to a negative exponentially growing process where more of the same foreign biological materials is attracted to the same interstitial regions. Sound familiar? While the body can pass single threads without disruption, multiple thread bundles begin impacting neurological and nerve functioning as well. The feeling of crawling insects is exactly what the body wants to signal to higher level intelligent functions. The higher organism will respond instinctively by doing what would do if where being attacked by a horde of insects - move and change locations of it's nesting site and so on.
What is the primary cause of foreign biological material in the interstitial region of the skin? Well, primarily it is insects, but stickers or needles of plants, and then certain internal causes. Most insects generally do not function well in this particular environment, but the human body still has to clear their material out if at all possible.
=> Note that many different kinds of parasitic organism and causes will cause these same morgellons response symptoms.
=> Note do not ingest compounds not designed for human consumption as they make they problems worse, but only those remedies that have been carefully researched.
So here are some factual deductions based on the above disease model;
a) The morgellons threads are not alive but are powered by our bodies own cellar clearance mechanisms
b) The morgellons threads are not from Mars.
c) The morgellons threads cannot reproduce.
d) The morgellons threads contain disassembled foreign biological material but are not contagious, of course the environment of one individual may be the environment of others.
e) The contents of the morgellons thread are not particularly useful in the determination of the underlying cause of the response.
f) The morgellons threads can exist a long time outside the body.
g) Different organisms can exhibit their own morgellons response.
h) One must get to the underlying parasite or tissue causes before morgellons response will terminate.
i) The morgellons response will self clear with time assuming that the cause has been removed.
j) The morgellons response will continue for a while after the parasitic cause has been terminated.
k) It is going to be difficult to in any way speed up the way the body's response processes work with drugs and so on, but getting the skin closed so that no more parasitic predation can occur is a big factor in the beginning or terminating the morgellon's syndrome.
l) In our usual climate true functioning parasites in human are rare, and predation is much more likely to come from outside the body.
m) The threads are tough inert packaging with a physical form that assists their movement inside the body's cells.
So in conclusion; Psychological Science gets a grade of "A" for generating correct outcome responses to morgellons but an "F" for its scientific application of knowledge.
