It made me crazy! I cut all my hair off and nearly shaved my head.
It was suggested by Dr. Staninger that I not use any traditional shampoo, but to use Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castile liquid soap. I've used it both in the bath and to shampoo my hair. I've also found the hair spray contains plastics.
My hair is now my own hair. No more biting, or creeping into eyes, nose, mouth, or lesions.

For real?? How short did you have to cut it to get it where the castile soap helped get rid of the icky things? Did she say to cut it off first and then use that? Or can you still have it long and get rid of the stuff by using that peppermint castile soap??? My 'hair' is down over my shoulders, so I just wondered if it gets rid of something at the root, or if it is the entire hair shaft? I was already of thinking of cutting it, but need to get a new magnifying mirror since I can't see good, and a new pair of scissors. Then just pray I can use my arm enough to reach in the top and back to cut it! My right arm isn't working good to even change clothes or brush my hair. Thanks for posting, and PLEASE, as i know you will anyway, KEEP us POSTED as to anything about your hair?? Thanks so much!! Makes me wanna go drink a bottle of peppermint oil! Talk to you soon, Celia

???I don't mean to be a peppermint castile naysayer or silver naysayer. I have found these substances helpful but to a limited degree. The Bronners soap makes me feel better and helps to reduce the the fake hair pustules but this is in the roots and if you have had this for years it is no cure. I really haven't found anything in the five years of this affliction that genuinely cures the condition. Sad but so far true!

I am new here and have only posted in "Newcomers" Forum so far.
This fake hair caught my eye and I had to reply. Along with the other hideous things it does, does anyone with this have their fake ones stand straight up without being due to static?
I did cut my hair. I could not stand it anymore. It is easier to see them and yank out, however, I think they grow faster than real hair because I always have strands of fake hair come down onto my face and ears.
I was so sick and disgusted with the smaller fiber in my eye lashes so I plucked them out. I didn't even bother to check first to learn if they grow back. I did the same with my eyebrows. It makes it much easier to see the trouble spots and which eyelashes and eyebrows are fake. Not that this is going to make any difference as far as a "fix", but it just drove me nuts. It still does, but I get a bit more time before I have a 30-60 minute nervous breakdown.
I will have to review the peppermint oil post and maybe give it a try.
Glad to be here with all,
kelly1

I have been using Dr Bronners liquid soap for three years and it still has not worked, but I do like the soap.
