OK. Strike what I said in the original post about doctors being curious, yadda yadda yadda.
I saw a woman on TV who was a size 2 and started mysteriously gaining weight - a LOT of weight. She went to doctor after doctor. They all felt like she was lying about her eating habits - that there was no other reason for her rapid weight gain.
One doctor even went so far as to tell her that if he shut her in a closet for a couple of days, without food, they'd see weight loss. She was given psych meds.
She was devastated and kept searching. Finally, she began looking at the volumes of test results she had and noticed an very elevated item in her system. She went online and started learning. She diagnosed herself and 7 YEARS after her first doctor visit, she discovered what she had and called UCLA for an appointment.
The doctor walked in and said, "What took you so long to get here? You have Cushings Disease," which is exactly what she had.
She went through unbelievable pain and humiliation for all that time, not finding ONE DOCTOR who wanted to actually research her symptoms and treat her appropriately. No one even looked at the test results or went online for education.
Cushings is a full-blown, recognized disease by the med community, and they STILL couldn't diagnose her correctly. So what chance does a Morgie have?
I used to have an incredible doctor, but he couldn't stand the system anymore. He quit and became a celebrated researcher, lecturer and author. I miss him dearly.
Our med system is totally hosed. Anyone know a good witchdoctor?
