That's a great page, Cindy!!
I wonder how many of these know-it-all's have the initial-phase symptoms or have the fiber already but just don't pay attention.
Or maybe their loved ones or pets. Geez.

Wahoooo!!
After Scheinfeld made such a fool of himself I looked all over the internet for him - and all his contact info had been deleted.
Oh, my!
Beautifully done.......with integrity and a prestigious looking page! YES!

I have to say Shoshanna that I also looked for Schienfield (not sorry if I spelled it wrong), what a cold person. You think they would have found a way to weed out this kind of depravity in the medical community by now.

Ditto for me, aussie. For anyone having weird IP's and the date 12/31/69 showing up in their PM's, here's what I found: Re: 12/31/69 07:00 pm? (Not rated) 7-Jul-06 08:36 pm it is called a default vector. the yaghoo boards get screwed up because of database fragmentation (this means one portion of messages may be stored on one disc server on one computer while another portion of the message stack is stored on another server located on another computer elsewhere. for each message, there are stack pointers which direct which server to access to get to a range os postings.... when a server goes down, that whole chink of messages may disappear and it may also really screw up all the pointers. if the pointers can not get figured out, then it may default to 12/31/69 - it depends upon how the computer programming was all set up) anyway, it's synononmous with any business as it grows to a large corporation - it becomes corrupt and inefficient.

Aaaargh! Thanks for the explanation, Thinker! What would we do without your expertise? What would we do without each other? Well, that ends our talk time for the moment, doesn't it? Drat, now I'll have to go and do some work and you guys might have to go to bed early. What a waste! Night night!

Cindy - That Dermtology page is fantastic, but then it makes my hair stand on end!!!! How dare they say those things!!!
I have seen 3 Dermatologists in my entire life time, and I had never heard of Morgellons then. And they were all absolutely useless. One female Dermatologist gave me some pills to take at nightime to help my itchy upper arms and I had some lesions then, so it was Morgellons, but I just didn't know at the time. I found out some time later from another Doctor that the pills she gave me were an antidepressant and I was already on Prozac at the time. I think she made a big mistake don't you??
So eat dirt Naysayers!

"Cherokeechas" is an odd name.
Can someone enlighten me as to the meaning, please? I keep on getting a visualization of a furry little creature that climbs trees with bright eyes and very sharp claws.

I am not sure on this one Aussie but I will have a guess.
Cherokee - meaning cherokee indian and chas - charles (as in Cindy's hubby). That's my take on it. Great website anyway, well done to the Holman's!

And borrowed this one also (thought I would save you all going there to read)!!!
*****************************************************************
Quote: Here’s an excerpt of the Koblenzer article:
Today, the informed dermatologist may be anywhere from doctor number five to number ten or more in this patient’s search for relief, and the patient will, in the interim, have raised both heaven and hell in a frantic attempt to solve the problem that has literally taken over his or her life. Today, the internet further complicates an already difficult situation, as we see in the two letters in this Journal, as our patients share every facet of their condition, every theory as to cause, and every attempt at relief, however far-fetched, with their fellow sufferers.
This sharing, and a tremendous amount of suffering, have given rise to the formation of “The Morgellons Research Foundation,” an organization devoted to “researching an emerging infectious disease,” with a medical board that boasts five MDs and an RN. Interestingly, none are dermatologists. An internet search for “bugs in the skin” will bring one to the Foundation’s Web site, and as Murase et al point out, the information therein may be very misleading to someone who suffers from delusions of parasitosis. One reads of cellulose fibers, fibers with “autofluorescence,” fuzz balls, specks, granules, strongyloides stercoralis, cryptococcus neoformans, “alternative cellular energy pigments,” and various types of bacteria for which potent antibiotics are prescribed, in the ever broadening spectrum of possible “pathogens.” In no case does one read of positive confirmatory tests, though many tests are undertaken. As Murase et al note, one also reads of numerous associated medical and psychiatric disorders that are attributed to, rather than co-existent with, or causative of the distressing symptoms. Frustration is extreme and suicidality is not unknown.
Clearly, as more and more of our patients discover this site, there will be an ever greater waste of valuable time and resources on fruitless research into fibers, fluffs, irrelevant bacteria, and innocuous worms and insects. It behooves us, therefore, as dermatologists, not only to be aware of this phenomenon, but also each to develop an effective way to work with these patients, and so enable the patients to be able to accept one of the medications that we know to be effective. This is a challenge indeed—so often the patient, feeling “brushed off” or not understood, simply does not follow through either with medication or with psychiatric referral.
If one is to succeed in helping these patients, it is important that one acknowledge to the patient that what the patient describes is exactly what that patient is experiencing. One can then empathize, as did Murase et al, with the patient’s pain and discomfort, their anger and frustration with dismissive doctors, and the devastating changes wrought by the condition in the patient’s life, and so develop a therapeutic relationship. With regard to causation, Morgellons disease may be an acceptable appellation, but it may also be that the touted “mysteries” of this disease only prove stimulus for further research by the patient. So, perhaps without going too far into the difference between a disease with a definite cause and a syndrome that may have different ones, it may be reasonable for us to refer to the symptom complex in question as “Morgellans syndrome” rather than disease
Of note, all these doctors are saying they are considering using the term “Morgellons” to refer to conditions involving DOP when talking to people who suffer from DOP and who also think they have Morgellons. They are doing this since it eases communication with the patient.

It seems to me that there are some Dermatologists around that would probably benefit from a visit to their eye specialist. Just a thought...

These should be the first hall of shamers that need to find another career for they have no interest in the patient and certainly cannot think outside the box....these should be first on the list of law suits are these professors teaching our upcoming doctors this crap.....
Here's to a whole new attitude by the medical profession some day soon....for we will have them running for cover as more truth is exposed....their careers will be ended....no one will listen to them one day soon....

Hi Aussie, Yes, Sarahconnor was right about the Cherokeechas name. My dear husband's name is Charles but lots of people call him Chas. Long befor Morgellons came around, Chas had his Cherokeechas website but it was mostly about his music then. He plays pedal steel guitar among other things. He is part Cherokee Indian from his father's side so thus the website name www.cherokeechas.com. Once he married me and we realized I had this disease, he converted the Cherokeechas site to be about Morgellons. What a guy, eh? We send our best to the land down under! Cindy
